RODOLFO ON THE DAY OF HIS ARRIVAL AT BETHEL - 1999
RODOLFO - OCTOBER 2008
RODOLFO - OCTOBER 2008
After 2 years and 5 months of nightmarish beareaucratic red tape, Rodolfo Schmalz will finally be going to Ohio to live with his new family.
Rodolfo was brought to Bethel Orphanage by the police when he was 5 years old. He had been abused, beaten and burnt with cigarettes. For one year, he did not speak a word, and Mama Bertha thought he might be mute. Little by little he grew accustomed to his new home and began speaking, but he was always shy. As groups came and went, he made a connection with members of the Schmalz family who visited several springs in a row. They decided to adopt him, and started the process in August of 2006. In that time Rodolfo graduated from Elementary school, grew about a foot and moved to the boys home. He did well at the boy's home, establishing a firm relationship with the Lord.
Please pray for Rodolfo has he starts out this new life in the United States. Pray in the next few days as they have some more red tape to pass through with the American Consulate. Pray that he will be able to adapt to his new language, school and culture. If you are interested in contacting Rodolfo, drop me a line and I will help you get hooked up.

I just wanted to say "PRAISE GOD!!" As much as I'll miss seeing his smiling face when I'm down there, I sure am happy to hear he'll finally be getting a forever home!
We are happy too. Rodolfo and I are in Juarez. It has been a long journey but we will be home soon. I'm sure he will miss everyone as well but hopefully we will be able to maintain many of the previous connections.
Can't wait to hear when he finally gets home. We've been praying for this day to come!
I'm so excited that Rodolfo is finally reaching his new home! Its been so long! My school is pretty near by so I would love to talk or meet up or even go to one of his - American Football games that he say's he'll be in. My e-mail is davisah@westminster.edu
God Bless,

I got to greet Rudolfo at the airport in Pitt. He and his mom, K. Schmalz, arrived on Feb 4 and a few of us from Geneva met them at the airport with a sign and balloons. We presented him with a Steeler hat to make sure he was ready for the Pittsburgh area. He was smiling and returned our hugs with much enthusiasm. He got to experience his first plane ride as well as snow and zero degree temperatures.
You could tell his new family was glad to have him home.
