A MESSAGE FROM PAPA HAROLD

I have been asked many times, why, or, what made you get involved with what you are doing in Mexico? I am sure you also have been asked, WHY ? I guess if I had to sum it up in one word for me, it would be COMPASSION. I think the Lord gave me a double dose of compassion because whenever I see anyone anywhere that has a need , I feel something in my heart that makes me want to try to do something. Whatever that something is. And, when I read your testimonies of the trips you all have taken to Mexico on behalf of Caring Hearts Ministries, I feel that you also were given a double dose of compassion.

On my first trip with Brother Knell to Mexico, the Lord opened my eyes and heart to so many needs; I had a hard time even driving back to Phoenix. In fact Brother Knell and I for the first hour or so said nothing to each other because of weeping for those we left behind. Was my first trip or your first trip just emotions and would pass. I don’t think so because for me it is 23 years later and I still feel the same compassion as I did on that first trip. And I know you do also.

WHY? Because it is God in me and you. Eph. 2: 10 –tells us we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. He prepared in advance all of the ministries of Caring Hearts for you and me. WOW! All I can say is thank you Lord for allowing me to be your hands extended in San Luis, Mexico. Dear Servant, The children at Bethel and the Oasis depend on us. The poor in San Luis depend on us. Will you continue to pray, give financially, and go to be a parent for a week to these children? As you have done it to the least of these, you have done it unto me.

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR GARY

Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Some years ago, Papa Harold and I had to go down to San Luis in January to deal with an emergency that arose. As Jim McGhee drove us from Phoenix to the orphanage the desert was covered with beautiful flowers because of some heavy rains they had. When we got to the border in the evening, I was amused to see Christmas lights on palm trees and the little haciendas we passed on the way.

As I think about the night Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago, I have a more accurate picture of what it must have been like. Growing up in North America Christmas conjures up images of snow on pine trees and quaint little villages on rolling hillsides. Bethlehem rarely if ever sees snow, so being in a desert climate helped me envision Joseph and Mary walking across the sand and entering a town where people lived hand to mouth much as the people do in San Luis today.

Jesus being born outdoors in a manger makes me think of the children who have been left in the sandy street at the gates of the orphanage, some of them in the dark of the night. I guess you can say, in a way, many children have been “born to” we who belong to Caring Hearts. To us many sons and daughters have been given. But unlike Isaiah’s prophecy the roles are reversed. It is our job, our calling to save them. On December 25th, the children at Bethel and at Oasis Boys Home will have hot food, a clean bed and Christmas Presents because high school and college students, young adults and senior citizens, people who care, have come together from more than ten states from Pennsylvania to Florida, to Missouri and Arizona. They have prayed, given and gone in person to provide for these precious children. As another year closes I know I speak on behalf of Papa Harold, Blake and all who sit on the Board of Directors when I say Thank You for supporting Caring Hearts Ministries. You changed lives in 2009 and God has big plans for us all in 2010.

TECATE TRIP

We took 5 patients to Tecate this month for plastic surgeries. 4 were operated on. We thank Adalberto and Maria for their faithful dedication to this ministry. Here are pictures of the patients that went this trip. Later we will have some pictures from the actual clinic.

SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The boys of Oasis participated in their first official scholastic football tournament this month, making a good showing and leading their respective teams to victory. Alan Eliud was the star of the show for everyone, scoring numerous goals and earning the accolades of all of the spectators. Here are some pictures.

I have always returned from this mission trip with more than when I left. It is something that can not be bought nor exactly explained. It is true, you do not live by bread alone - John

This is my fourth trip here and each time has been such a blessing to me. To see the smiles and gratitude on the faces is something you have to experience. God's spirit is here and it is a joy to come and tap into it. - Donald

This is our fourth trip to San Luis, our second with a team. You became a part of our life in November of 2008, the first time we stepped onto this sand. The people, the children, most of all the love of Jesus that is ever present from authority to the smallest child. The ministries here give us a chance to share the gospel and bless those with needs as the scripture instructs. We leave with a fullness of joy and blessings beyond words. We are prepared to commit and make San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora a personal ministry as well as continuing to lead teams as long as God shows us to. The children at Bethel draws us, the Lord works through us and we are blessed. - Robert and Lola

The blessings that the people gave back to us as we ministered to them and how they wanted to share with us blessed me immensley. - Bernie

My financial support for this trip was provided by our Lord totally. This was my first missions trip. My heart was totally touched at the Women's Rehab Center and at the Women's Prison. This was the first time I had the privilege of sharing the gospel with others. The whole trip has been a mighty blessing for me. Thank you for caring for these children. - Sara

TRUSSES

Here are some more pictures of the trusses the boys made for their water shed. They are practicing for when they do them for houses we hope to build in the future.

OASIS WATER SHED

Pedro and the boys worked long and hard to change their water system, and they are quite proud of their accomplishment. The old system was below ground, and when it would have problems, it would flood. They first fill in the old system, then built a floor and shed around the water tanks. They experimented making trusses so that it would have the same look as the rest of the buildings at Oasis. They are almost finished with it, here are some pictures.

WALNUT GROVE ASSEMBLY OF GOD

Right now San Luis and Caring Hearts is being blessed by a group from Walnut Grove Assembly of God. They are busy finishing a house of one of our church members and also ministering throughout the city. They have been distributing a 1000 Croc shoes they had shipped down to children all over San Luis. Here are some pictures of them working on the house.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY SEMINAR

We held our second session last Sunday of our Children's Ministry Seminar. It is our goal to establish a team from our church who will be willing to go out and evangelize the children of our community. Ken and Juana are sharing their combined 41 years of experience teaching different ways that can be used to reach the children in the streets. Pray that a leader will be called from within this group to run with this ministry with zeal and responsibility.
